The question
Research data is valuable only when people can access it. Energy researchers needed a simpler way to retrieve IoT measurements stored in the cloud without depending on SQL expertise.
The approach
I developed a desktop application with Electron, React, Vite, and TypeScript, connecting a PostgreSQL data layer with Azure infrastructure. The interface lets researchers select and download data for their work.
The result
Designed for internal use at Red Deer Polytechnic, Energy Innovation Link connects software development with applied energy research. It gives researchers an interface for retrieving cloud-hosted measurements and is referenced in a colleague’s professional recommendation.
